Can I Help You?

Massage and Bowen Therapy are both complementary therapies. Neither is meant to be a substitute for medical care, and if you have any doubts about your particular problem, you should certainly see your doctor first.

That said, many people come to complementary therapies because they haven’t been able to get the help they need from conventional medical treatment. Sometimes, too there is concern around the long term use of prescribed drugs.

In my practice I mainly see people who are experiencing:
• musculoskeletal pain
• joint stiffness and restriction
• stress related disorders (tension, insomnia, irritability and so on)

the power of touch

I have found that the sorts of problems that respond well to both massage and Bowen Therapy include:
• back and neck pain
• sciatica
• repetitive strain injuries like carpel tunnel and tennis elbow
• clicking jaw and other “TMJ” problems
• wry neck
• tense sore shoulders
• post exercise muscular soreness and stiffness

Other conditions which are more deep rooted or chronic can also be successfully treated but results are nearly always slower and they may require on-going maintenance attention. These include:
• arthritis, especially in the knees and neck
• frozen shoulder
• foot and ankle pain and instability
• fibromyalgia and ME
• migraine
• asthma
• postural problems

So how can you tell whether your particular problem can be helped? Well, the first thing to be said is that massage and Bowen are nearly always beneficial. They ease stress, improve blood flow and nervous function and break down adhesions in connective tissue which restrict movement and promote pain.

But everyone is different and every problem is unique to the person who has it. What you’re experiencing may fall into a broad category of conditions which usually can be treated effectively by massage or Bowen but no practitioner can guarantee results in advance.

My approach is to carefully assess your problem in the first session and take a detailed health history. This is then followed by the work itself. At the end of your first visit I will work out a treatment plan with you which will include how many more sessions (if any) are likely to be required to get you where you want to be and things you can do yourself to help things along.

There is no obligation to commit to multiple treatments with me and many of my clients simply book in when they feel the need. However, if you have one of the chronic problems listed above, you can expect to need several sessions to achieve meaningful progress. These sorts of conditions don’t develop overnight (even though their actual onset may appear to be sudden) and they usually don’t resolve quickly.

My promise is to always be honest with you about what I can do to help you. I do offer a guarantee and it is this:

"If at any time, you do not believe my level of
of professionalism and skill meets your
standard for excellence, I will refund your
session fee and make every attempt to refer you
to a therapist who can meet your expectations."
